This will be Esther Raphael’s fifth year conducting parent workshops for Ready, Set, Read! Esther brings her experiences as a retired SRLDP teacher to her workshops held in San Fernando Valley schools.

This will be Devora Hernandez’ fourth year as a parent educator for Ready, Set, Read!. Many of our parents enjoy her presentation because they can relate to her and her background. Devora grew up in a bilingual household and attended Los Angeles public schools before receiving her undergraduate degree from California Sate University, Los Angeles and her masters degree from National University. She draws upon her childhood experiences and extensive work with adult learners and young children to make her workshops so compelling. “I always tell parents that they are opening a door for their children when they read to them.”

In addition to her responsibilities as executive director, Merrily Weiss
also conducts parent workshops, drawing upon her experiences as the mother of two students in Los Angeles Unified School District high schools. This is her seventh year working with SRLDP teachers and parents.
